Sony unveils THREE NEW VAIO Series

A refreshing start to the heat of Summer 2012

Kuala Lumpur, 14^th June – Sony unveiled its latest VAIO Series featuring cool design and loaded with cutting-edge technologies that give a refreshing start to the warmest season of the year. A total of three new VAIO series were unveiled at the launch and they are – VAIO S, T and E Series.  

These new VAIO Series notebooks are designed to cater to the individual needs of the users. The VAIO S series caters to the discerning working class where a high performing notebook is their best companion while VAIO T series offers convenience on the go with easy connectivity and ultra light weight. The VAIO E on the other hand will appeal to the young adults and students with its vibrant colour and compact features to meet the everyday computing needs.  

VAIO S Series – A high performing notebook pc that runs at the speed of ideas

VAIO S Series

The latest VAIO S Series comes with powerful computing performance and a full range of features, all packed into a light body with a 13.3" LCD.  VAIO S Series provides the latest technologies needed for full mobile computing. Overall high performance is assured with 3rd generation Intel® Core™ i7 Processor, as well as a Dynamic Hybrid Graphics System that uses two graphics processors to best suit the application being run — using either a NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 640M LE GPU with dedicated VRAM* or integrated Intel® HD Graphics 4000. Moreover Dynamic Hybrid Graphics System with NVIDIA OPTIMUS Technology switches seamlessly between SPEED mode for faster performance and STAMINA mode for an even longer battery life.

The VAIO S Series has 6 hours of battery life on a full charge; however, an optional Extended Battery is also available to extend the battery life to 12 hours, doubling the primary battery capacity. There is also a dedicated battery charger that allows you to leave your battery at your desk to get charged while you are away. You can then bring it along with you later to give your laptop another few hours of battery life.

Optimized design

In addition to that, the S Series comes with the slot-in optical drive, which not only achieves the beauty of the full flat design but also increases the rigidity of the frame. This strengthens the body while eliminating the risk of the loading tray becoming bent. Weighing at 1.67 kg and measures a slim 22.8 mm full-flat body featuring a carbon lid, the notebook offers comfort and durability for users on the go. The Hexa-Shell edge design increases the it’s mobility by providing the essential lightness and rigidity to the body, while also adding a unique character to the appearance. The large palm rest is moulded from a single piece of thin aluminium that provides essential strength while also reducing weight and ensuring a slim profile. This provides solid support for users who spend long hours at their PCs.

VAIO S Series is now available and comes in 4 colours, Carbon Black, Black, White and Pink.

VAIO T Series – Sony 1st VAIO Ultrabook for style and extreme mobility

The launch of Sony VAIO T Series marks its 1^st series in the Ultrabook department. In addition to an Ultrabook’s unique elements - thinness and lightness, the new VAIO T Series comes with various interfaces for a better mobile PC experience including Sony’s unique technologies such as “Rapid Wake + Eco”, faster USB charging, and longer battery life, all of which are must-haves features.

Ideal for a busy person who is on the go, the VAIO T Series can connect easily and directly to the devices you need, such as desk monitors, projectors, and Ethernet. With VGA and LAN cable connectors in addition to USB 3.0, USB 2.0, and HDMI ports, this PC can be connected to devices of all kinds without the inconvenience of mini and micro connectors that require dongles. The VAIO T Series also comes with both a Memory Stick and SD card slot ensuring that it works perfectly with the laptop.

Instant wake-up and battery-saving sleep mode

With “Rapid Wake + Eco”, you will not need to shut down anymore. The feature resumes the PC from the sleep mode in an instant, letting you get back to work right away. Simply close the lid to engage sleep mode. Open it again and instantly resume where you left off before. The use of the new Intel technology allows the T Series to resume from sleep mode in less than 2 seconds, and provides better protection for your data. The new sleep mode also uses much less battery power.

Optimized performance for people on the go.

Intel Smart Response Technology uses a hybrid drive composed of a HDD and SSD (solid-state drive) that provides significantly faster data retrieval than with a HDD alone. The SSD is used as cache memory, and because it can be accessed much faster than the HDD, data can be read at higher speeds This shortens the boot time and reduces the time required to load the applications which you use most. This technology realizes both faster operation and high capacity storage.

The new VAIO T Series is available in stores now with 11.6” and 13.3”. 

VAIO E Series – Personalised notebook for work and fun

Following the launch of VAIO E14P premium series notebook in April this year, Sony today announces the new addition to the E Series family with VAIO E Series 11, 14 and 15 to complete the line-up. Equipped with 3^rd generation Intel® Quad Core™ i7 CPU with AMD Radeon^TM HD 7650M GPU (VRAM: 2GB)¹, along with the wide range of LCD screen sizes and 3 colour variations, this PC easily compliments the different individual’s lifestyle.

New VAIO E Series offer various display sizes to suit different needs. VAIO E Series 11, 14 and 15 feature displays that are 11.6 inches, 14 inches and 15.5 inches wide respectively. In addition, the 3 stylish colours – white, black and pink, highlight the unique and distinctive ‘wrap design’ while the contrasting shades of the PC and around the screen exudes personal style.

The new Sony VAIO series offer various features to enrich computing experience 

Firstly, video chats are clearer and crisper with the built-in HD web camera powered by ‘Exmor for PC’. Friends and family will enjoy seeing you with sharper details, higher contrast and rich colours: even in low light where other web cameras struggle with grainy, fuzzy images.

The generously-sized multi-gesture touchpad offers a large clickable surface for intuitive, ‘button-free’ control. There’s plenty of space to navigate pages, edit photos and more with fingertip scroll, flick, pinch/zoom and pivot movements.

Gesture Control lets you interact with your computer using intuitive hand movements. Just hold your hand up in front of the web camera and swipe left or right to flick through web pages and photo gallery. Pull your hand down to pause music playback or a slideshow, or adjust music volume up or down with ‘rotate’ movements. Gesture Control is currently supported by Windows^® Media Player, Windows^® Internet Explorer^® 9, Microsoft^® PowerPoint^®, and CyberLink PowerDVD.

Moreover, organising and editing photos, home movies and even 3D content is easier than ever.  PlayMemories Home is the new software replacing PMB.
