Sony introduces World’s First True 4K Projector for High-end Home Theatre Installations
Kuala Lumpur, 19 July 2011 – Sony is once again ahead of the curve by going beyond HD, to offer theatre quality 4K for the home with the world’s first true 4K home theatre projector. The 3D-capable digital projector can display stunning 4K images that provide home entertainment enthusiasts with a more immersive, engaging visual experience with over four times the resolution of Full HD.
Home theatre enthusiasts will be blown away by Sony’s flagship VPL-VW1000ES which employs an entirely new SXRD 4K panel, producing outstanding device contrast and 2,000 ANSI-lumens of brightness. When combined with Sony's Iris3 technology, the projector can achieve an incredible 1,000,000:1 dynamic contrast. Featuring such incredible resolutions, it can produce screen sizes of up to 200-inches (diagonally) for awe-inspiring cinematic viewing in the comforts of the home.
“In similar fashion to our industry-leading Sony Digital Cinema™ 4K projectors which has swept across cinemas around the world with over 10,000 units installed, our new VPL-VW1000ES 4K home theatre projector has been created to not just meet, but exceed the needs of the most discerning and demanding home entertainment enthusiasts. It will allow them to become totally immersed in the viewing experience with the action unfolding before their eyes in a new level of realism, with colours and details unlike anything seen before in home entertainment,” said Mr. Chin Charn Choong, Assistant General Manager for Professional Solutions Division (PSD), Sony Malaysia.
In addition to supporting 4K native resolution, the VPL-VW1000ES projector also features Sony’s exclusive Super Resolution 4K upscaler “Reality Creation” that enhances all content – SD or HD, 2D or 3D – to higher definition true 4K (DCI Format: 4096 x 2160p) picture signals. “Sony continues to push the boundaries of high resolution entertainment; from the lens to the living room,” adds Mr. Chin.
For greater versatility, it has a built-in IR transmitter for Full 4K 3D which drives the projector’s TDG-PJ1 USB-chargeable active shutter 3D glasses; picture position memory which memorises the position of the zoom lens; and it also supports 2D and 3D anamorphic films.
Since 2003, Sony has continued to improve and develop its proprietary SXRD panels resulting in pixels being reduced from 7μm to 4μm, as well as the reduction of the space between each pixel, for even distribution and accurate light reflection.
The VPL-VW1000ES offers a variety of installation options, including dual triggers, a 2.1 motorised zoom, expanded throw distances, an RS232 interface, control over IP and compatibility with virtually every home automation integrator.
Sony’s new VPL-VW1000ES 4K home theatre projector will be available in Malaysia through accredited dealers now, at an SRP of RM 74,999 (comes bundled with 2 pieces of 3D glasses).
